Stan’s Corner, Thursday, August 4
Earlier this year, Judie and I registered to go in October to the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky’s Appalachia to volunteer for a week of work. A Methodist from Maine went there in 1999 to do some work and stayed for three years. She wrote a book about her experiences and included this quote from George Washington Carver in her book: “It’s not the style of clothes one wears, neither the kind of automobile one drives, nor the amount of money one has in the bank that counts. These mean nothing. It is simply service that measures success.”
