Judie and I will be leaving tomorrow to go to New Jersey where I will be doing a committal service of my previous father-in-law and sister-in-law’s ashes. Here is what I plan to use for the closing prayer. While I am gone, I will not be doing a blog, but will resume at the end of the week. I have done one everyday since June 4 of this year.
O God, who gives us life and death
you are ever more ready to hear than we are to pray.
you know our needs before we ask, and yet you ask us to ask.
Give to us now your grace, that as we stand here before the mystery of life and death,
we may see the light of eternal life.
Help us to live as those who are prepared to die.
And when our days here are accomplished, enable us to die as those who go forth to live,
so that living or dying, our life may be in you
And that nothing in life or in death will be able to separate us
from your great love in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
